Gossip Girl Podcast: "The Serena Also Rises"
This episode really got us talking! We love the way this show can combine serious bad behavior with a whole lot of heart -- even (or maybe especially!) the villains have compelling reasons behind their actions!
There was so much going on this week. Jenny is skipping school to be indispensable to Eleanor Waldorf, but she runs afoul of Blair. Meanwhile, Serena starts to embrace the limelight, Dan follows Chuck for a walk on the wild side, and Lily realizes just what she's done by marrying Bart.
But that's not all! Find out what pushed Jackie over the edge, what Mia thinks about the guy in the bar, and how I deal with Dan's writerly habits. Plus, we discuss who we'd rather be minions for and say how we really feel about Charlie Trout.

I loved this episode. So awesome. My fave plot this week was the Blair/Jenny Blair/Serena. oh and that girl was totally dressed trampy. just one quck question. Does Eric even go to school? because I can't seem to remember him going to school but if he did I hope him and Jenny interact more that's if she goes back. I think I'm gonna like Serena being the queen. who knows maybe she'll like her head up her a**. lol I think Blair said that the royals have gone back to brighton which is an awesome place btw. oh and jackie you are right Serena is all legs. which is not a problem. lol awesome podcast

I LOVED this episode of Gossip Girl. I have never commented on any GG podcasts but this week I felt compelled to vent. LOL.
First off, the Dan/Chuck storyline was genious. I have been wondering for a while why Dan is never in scenes with any of the other guys on the show. It was refreshing to finally see some interation between him and Chuck; they are so different. Dan didn't annoy me though, I think he was starting to change his opinions of Chuck and stop his holier than thou attitude that irrates me usually.
I was frustrated in a good way with Blair, because although I usually prefer her over Serena, she just bugged me. I am starting to really like Serena. I like that she has stopped trying to be perfect and upstanding, it was tiring. This Serena is fun and confident. Blair is usually that person but I couldn't get past the way she treated Jenny the whole episode. I felt so bad for everyone that Blair was screwing over. Serena was right, she has been holding back and Blair seems to be really selfish.
I have to agree with Sarah and Mia, Jenny seems to have a real future in fashion and it is important that she pursues her dream, but of course she can't just dropout of school. She did say that she was keeping up with her work and I think she does care about school but you guys are right, that doesn't mean she has to go to Constance Billard, maybe home school would be more benefical I mean it seems like Rufus is paying a lot of money for private school anyways.

I couldn't really decide how I felt about the Jenny situation but everything she said about Rufus is right. If he had succeeded in his music career I doubt their conversation at the end of the episode would have gone the same way. At this point Rufus is completely helpless when it comes to Jenny.
Blair and Serena were both slightly unlikeable this episode but Blair's behavior was defintely justified. Yes, Serena hasn't worked for anything that she gets and yes, Blair has to manipulate to get and keep almost everything she has. By recognizing Blair's insecurities, Serena has almost developed an ego. Especially with the preview for the next episode.
Chuck of course made me sad. Dan just annoyed me, but he and Chuck had a nice little friendship while it lasted. I was surprised you guys didn't mention what Blair said to Chuck towards the beginning about how Nate's only friends with him out of habit and how no one likes him and everything. I think most of what Blair said to him caused his gloomy behavior throughout the episode.
Anyway, I loved this episode and your podcasts!
