Note to Denny Hamlin: When you intentionally wreck someone, don't stand there proudly and tell us you did it on purpose on national TV. See, NASCAR really gets upset when that happens, especially when you did it during a caution period.
Either Hamlin wasn't thinking, or he figures he can absorb the fine that's certainly on the way now. Of course, there will be a points penalty, but since he's not running the Nationwide series full time, he likely doesn't care about that, so he spoke his mind in a live post-race interview, saying, "If you throw a brick at me, I'm going to throw a concrete block back at you."
Hamlin, who was in second place during Saturday night's Nationwide race at Charlotte, gave Brad Kesolowski's third-place car a hard hit while they circled the track under a late-race caution, all but ensuring that the #88 Navy car would be unable to move up and challenge for the lead. He wasn't, and Kyle Busch won when the caution flag flew again with just one lap to go. Hamlin finished second, and Kesolowski ended up with a career-high third palce finish.
If the guys in the NASCAR control tower were paying closer attention, Hamlin would not have finished second. He would have been much further back, because he announced on the radio that he was going to "get" Brad Kesolowski, then he actually did it. If the officials has been paying attention, they would have penalized him right than and there. A couple of weeks ago, officials watched Michael Waltrip run over Casey Mears in a fit of anger and parked Waltrip on the spot. That should have happened this time, too.
Retaliation for offenses, perceived or real, are a long-time tradition in NASCAR. In this case. Hamlin felt he'd been wronged by Kesolowski. But there are rules to be followed when you do this. Number One is: You do not admit you did it on purpose. Number Two is: You don't do it under caution. Both are sure ways to be punished by NASCAR.
Now, there's a kind of an odd second-hand rivalry brewing betwen Hamlin and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., who owns the #88 that Hamlin hit. After the race, Junior said his car was "Pretty tore up," and Hamin's response was, "Deal with it." This comes after the incident at the Richmond Cup race a few week back in which Hamlin intentionally brought out a caution, which helped teammate Kyle Busch beat Junior.
Meanwhile, Kesolowski is running full-time in the Nationwide series and is chasing a championship. Hamlin is not, and his temper-tantrum certainly will have more impact on Kesolowski than it will on him.
Funny thing is, anyone who's been watching NASCAR for a couple of seasons remembers when Hamlin was "just happy to be here."
Where did that guy go?

What do you want, he is teammates with Kyle Busch who is now the lead bad guy in the field.

All the replays on ESPN this morning show Kesolowski hitting Hamlin first. Did you really think he should have taken THAT? If you don't show a "up-and-comer" that he can't get away with that, he'll do something else stupid in the future. Sorry, Hamlin was in the "right", and should have done exactly what he did. Hamlin IS one of the nice guys in racing, but he also knows how to play the game.

When is NASCAR going to do something about these cup guys acting like little kids? The Nationwide series is for those guys that have to run every week and don't run in the Sprint race. Some of the Sprint guys feel they should just move over and let them go by as if they are the only ones on the track.
There seems to be a lot of jealousy's going around with these two drivers.
They should grow up and act like men not kids.
There day will come but not soon enough.

Hamlin made the comment thats why Keselowski was in Nationwide and he (hamlin) was a sprint Cup Driver. Hamlin is right... He (Hamlin isn't mature enough to run in the Nationwide Series!!! Of Course look at JGR. The have 3 of the 4 dirtiest drivers in NASCAR. If only they could get Kenseth too...

The replay clearly showed that Kesolowski hit Hamlin first. It seems that the only reason that is acceptable is because he drives for Jr. There will not be a points penalty for this, it happens almost every week in NASCAR.

Once again Denny sounds like a spoiled brat...that since he's a big bad cup driver Brad should just pull over and let him win.
No one should bump anyone during a caution. There's no excuse for that but to do so with the intent of damaging a car is disrespectful to your car owner and the guys who work so hard to build the cars. Denny more than likely damaged his own car in the process. But it's just a "Nationwide" car so I'm sure it means nothing to Denny.
Respect is a missing element in racing. The owners can't build that into a car and unortunately it wasnt something instilled in a lot of drivers on the tracks today.

I cant believe Hamlin was so stupid as to run his mouth that he did it on purpose..Is he beyond the man (Dale jr) that got him his shot? Denny is a good guy I'm sure it will all work out...Brad is gona be a find cup driver soon..........

Denny needs to realize that he is a guest in a lower series. Brad is trying to win his first race in the series he is running full time in. Denny needs to stop the complaining he started doing this year. He is starting to act like his team mate Kyle(Punk) Busch. Denny's explanation that he didn't like the way Brad raced him was whiny to say the least. The way he complained you would have thought Brad wrecked him. If Denny does not like to be raced with, he should stay in Sprint cup where he belongs. Nascar needs to smarten up and only let a few Nascar drivers race a week and allow the Nationwide guys a chance to win in their own series.

I think want Denny did was uncalled for! He did it under caution and that was stupid! Brad was just showing Denny that he didn't appreciate the way Denny raced him and he should have but what Denny did was and still is unexcuseable!

In the past year or so,Denny has acted like a spoiled brat, a perfect teammate to Kyle. I feel bad for the friendship that seems to be lost, there has been problems for awhile.

I've been hearing over the past year or so that Denny had become a different person-that he was more arrogant and not as nice as he used to be. Too bad his head has gotten too big for his helmet and he forgot about a little thing called karma.
Regardless of whether or not Keselowski got into Denny first (I'd bet it was an accident, too, and not on purpose), for him to be blatant about what he was going to do over the scanner and then on t.v. was not only stupid but it was wrong. We've all seen driver's do things like this to each other and although some retaliations have been obvious, at other times it was done at a race later on in the season and then it was not always broadcast over the air, either.

Going into the race I WAS a Denny Hamlin fan. But, destroying Brad's fender when all he got was a bump from behind is a severe overreaction. It shows a lack of respect for the other drivers and the teams.
I hope Denny gets his temper under control. But, until that happens, I'll cheer for others.

Actually Denny and Brad have been having issues with each other all night and the boiling point happened under caution. Denny was essentially mad that Brad didn't move over for him earlier that night when he was "almost clear". He did make threats over the radio before that stuff happened. They didn't show what happened to make Brad tap him in the first place surely you don't think he did that for nothing?? Something had to be going on if Dale saw fit to jump in and bump Denny pull up beside him and say something. Denny hasn't been in cup long enough for him to act like such a prima donna sorry nor does he have enough wins or a championship to back it up. The Denny of two years ago wouldn't have done that nor would he have made those comments either. Brad doesn't have any cup experience well duh it was a Nationwide race. Denny hasn't been a nice guy in a while he went from being nice to thinking everyone owes him something, he even wanted Petty to pull over for him because he was racing for something bigger than he was please!!!

This article made me laugh. You twisted everything up and left parts out like when Brad hit Denny first. Get your facts straight please, before writing stories like this.

Bottom line, the sprint cup guys don't belong in these races. Denny's comments only go to show this should be the case. Kesolowski is running for a championship in this series, Hamlin is here for the $$$$, pure and simple. If this doesn't prove he shouldn't be here, does anyone recall him removing Amirola from the car last year when it was leading? This kid is spoiled brat pure and simple, Gibbs racing seems to attract this type more and more....

I think its wishful thinking that NASCAR will impose any penalities, I'd be willing to bet the farm(if I had one) that Hamblin wont even get a "slap on the wrist"!!!

Geezzz Louiseezz, once again JR Nation raises its UGLY head and makes comments about things they cannot comprehend...Like both Jr and Brad thinks they are all that and a bag of chips! I agree with Denny's little cliche. Jr Nation takes bits and pieces of reality to make their driver look good. You have to go back to the driving of Brad earlier in the race to understand the results. As for the comment about last year and Amirola being taken out of the car, that was Denny's race, Denny was on the program. Truth be known I would bet the farm that Aric had some kind of connection to the vehicle blocking the heliopad!

I saw Brad bump Denny and I feel that a love tap is fine in showing displeasure and if Denny was mad enough about it he should have done the same back to Brad, but intentionally trying to damage another car jockeying for position under caution is wrong. I've had the same thing happen to me while racing Remote Control Vehicles (Hobby Grade) and the pro sponsored drivers feeling that I should move out of the way since they feel they are better than me. All race day long I was getting chatter and abuse from the pros and I didn't take it. The pro driver even tried to intentionally break my vehicle with his after the race. This is the same case. Denny is the Sprint cup driver and Brad is the Nationwide driver and Denny feels he should get "godlike" treatment. It's called racing and hard close racing is the game. If Dale Earnhardt or old school drivers like David Pearson had what Denny did to Brad I don't think Denny would have a car left under him. If you watched the racing back then you know they raced each other hard. Denny needs to grow up and remember where he came from. He has just gotten the breaks that can go away in an instant to drivers that are more deserving right now.

Is there any wonder why Tony Stewart wants to get out of Gibbs with a couple of spoiled brats as teammates. I have no doubt he will be with his own team last year.
And I actually was a huge fan of Denny Hamlin a couple of years ago with his rags-to-riches success story. Then he lucks into a couple of Pocono wins and he starts buying the stuff Fedex says about him in their commercials.

Brad bumping Denny is harmless - no aero damage
from that and whether he was driving for Jr or not he was the feel good story of the race . If you want to teach some lessons to behavior like this you simply ban Denny for 6 months from being in a Nationwide Series race. There are financial incentives to cup drivers running Nationwide. Take away any hope of Denny making one dime running a Nationwide race and the threat of losing extra track time (although thats less of a penalty this year with COT in cup ) that might open some eyes . Of course Harvick got parked for a cup race at Marty if I remember correctly because of his actions in a truck race that same weekend - fines do nothing in these days of lucrative paydays . It's time
drivers get parked. Then sponsors will take note. Tony Stewart was dangerously close to suspension years ago - Home Depot & NASCAR had a "chat" with him and he settled down .

Ya know, he's been showing this attitude for a couple of years now. Last season there was lots of screaming and blaming close wins on his crew. Then the incident with Kyle Petty and the comments he made after that. Jumping out of his car like some tough guy 5 minutes after Kyle was long gone from the garage.
I secretly hope Smoke moves on from JGR, and Logano replaces him, and puts Kyle and Denny to 2nd and 3rd drivers status in no time...

I dislike Denny Hamlin more and more as the weeks go by. It's unfortunate because I used to really like him. I guess he wants to share in the attention that the bratty busch has been getting of late. And just FYI BJ....this comment is not coming from the Jr. Nation, just somebody who thinks the drivers should act more mature than my 13 year old. If he were involved in that type of stupidity I would ground him!!!

Hamlin is a dirty driver. Plain and simple. He showed his true colors numerous times last year. He fits in perfectly with Tony Stewart and Kyle Bush....... "I'm too dumb to drive past 'em, so I'll wreck 'em out of the way". It's the DALE EARNHARDT WAY. One thing I like about Dale jr, he's NOTHING like his dad, who was willing to wreck anybody and everybody out of his way to get to the front. I can't stand dirty drivers.
